Almost All Diabetics Develop High Blood Pressure

An article in The Journal of the American Medical Association shows that almost all diabetics develop high blood pressure if they live long enough.

The Framingham Heart Study shows that more than two-thirds of diabetics develop blood pressure higher than 140 over 90, putting them at high risk for heart attacks. The DASH study and several others show that the same diet that prevents diabetes treats high blood pressure. So almost all people, particularly diabetics, should eat a diet with lots of whole grains, vegetables, fruits, beans, seeds, nuts and seafood, and restrict meat, chicken, whole milk diary products and refined carbohydrates in bakery products, pastas, and sweets.
