Ankle Weights

Ankle weights will not help you run faster or jump higher. Training is specific. To run fast in competition, you must run fast in practice. Ankle weights make it very difficult to raise your knees, so they slow you down.

To jump high, you have to strengthen your leg muscles in the same way that you use them to jump. Wearing ankle weights strengthens your leg muscles for lifting weights off the ground with your feet. When you jump, you have to raise your body off the ground. To jump higher, you have to practice raising your body from the squat position with a heavy weight on your shoulders. So wearing ankle weights will help you compete only you if you are going to race or jump against other people while they also wear ankle weights.
