An article in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology shows that Imiquimod cream helps to treat many different skin conditions.

Imiquimod five percent cream contains chemicals that stimulate a person's immunity and ability to kill germs. It has been shown to prevent keloids, scars that can follow trauma to the skin. It has already been approved by the Food and Drug administration for treating genital warts, highly contagious warts that form on the genitals and can cause cervical cancer. It has been shown to cure viral blisters called Molluscum contagiosum in children. Other studies show that it can get rid of precancers called actinic keratoses, and even basal cells skin cancers that are caused by sunlight. It comes in a white cream that is applied nightly to the affected are. It can cause itching and redness, but so far, no serious reactions to the cream have been reported.
