How Unfiltered Coffee Can Cause Heart Attacks

Do you know why European studies show that drinking coffee increases risk for heart attacks, while all American studies shows that it does not? Europeans drink unfiltered boiled coffee, while Americans filter out a chemical that causes heart attacks. Now researchers know why.

A study from the Netherlands reports that boiled coffee raises blood levels of homocysteine, and having high blood levels of homocysteine markedly increases your chances of getting a heart attack, because it punches holes in arteries and forms clots to block arteries. Lack of three vitamins, B12, folic acid, and pyridoxine, raises blood levels of homocysteine, while taking these three vitamins helps to lower it. So the next research to be done is to see if drinkers of unfiltered coffee can protect themselves from heart attacks by taking large doses of vitamins B12, folic acid and pyridoxine. For now, it's a good idea to filter your coffee before you drink it.
