Whenever you see an author hawking a book on weight loss, realize that there is no evidence anywhere that any diet has ever helped most people to lose weight and keep it off.

A study from Finland shows that fewer than six percent of overweight adults can lose weight and keep it off with any diet. The people who kept weight off had a low level of stress, followed almost all the rules of healthy living and did not drink alcohol to excess.

Habits are established early in life. Losing weight and keeping it off requires a radical change in lifestyle and most people can't do it. It will take major breakthroughs in our understanding of how to get people to exercise more and eat less. For now, the best strategies we have are trying to lower your insulin levels by severely restricting flour based foods such as bakery products and pastas, foods with added sugar, and excessively fatty foods; and starting a regular exercise program that you can maintain for the rest of your life.
