An interesting study from Sweden shows that obese women take in far more sugar than skinny women do.

Eating too much sugar can cause cavities in teeth. When you take in lots of sugar, extra sugar stays in your mouth to markedly increase the growth of the bacteria, mutans streptococci and lactobacilli/// that cause cavities. This study shows that obese women have much higher mouth levels of these two bacteria. interestingly, obese women reported a greater craving for sweets when they were menstruating and doctors found higher levels of mutans streptococci and lactobacilli in their mouths at that time.

One of the best ways for overweight women to lose weight is to reduce their intake of sugar and flour. They should cut back on bread, spaghetti, macaroni, pretzels, bagels, rolls, white rice and foods made with added sugar, and they should eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, seeds and nuts.
