Hidden Statin Found in Red Yeast Rice Capsules

Over-the-counter Doctor's Best announced a voluntary nationwide recall of more than 7,000 bottles of Red Yeast Rice dietary supplements (600mg capsules) used to lower cholesterol. The product was found to contain an undeclared prescription drug, lovastatin, that is used to treat high cholesterol. Lovastatin can cause muscle injuries and liver damage, and pregnant women place their unborn children at risk. For more information call (844) 717-0190 or visit http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/
